Just Read: Elizabeth The Queen

Well, I’ve done it! I’ve finished reading my first book of the year! And about time too, since January is nearly over!

As stated in the title, the book I read was Elizabeth The Queen: The Life of a Modern Monarch.

I really enjoyed it! I’ve always been fascinated by the British Monarchy, and by reading this book I learned a lot that I did not know.

HRH Elizabeth The Queen is an amazing woman, now that I already knew, but reading about her just solidified that all the more for me. The strength she shows in times of crisis is truly admirable. In an ever-changing world she is a symbol of continuity, which is quite reassuring.

If you are interested in the British Monarchy, or would just like to learn more about The Queen, I highly recommend you read this book.

I was finally able to use my Non-Fiction TBR jar, and the name of the book randomly chosen is……….. Anne Morrow Lindbergh: Her Life!

I don’t know much about the Lindbergh’s, but I hope to, which is why I added this to my Non-Fiction TBR jar.

Also trying to finish Anna Karenina, of which the reading of was left incomplete, at the end of last year.

But worry not, I promise that I will finish it……eventually. Hopefully soon, since I want to also be able to choose a book from my Fiction TBR jar.

What have you been reading lately? And how many books have you already read this year? I’d love to know!

Peace and Blessings……

The Happenings

Wow! It’s already been two weeks since I last blogged! I think that’s the longest period of time I’ve gone without blogging, I’ve just been so busy…….ok, maybe a little busy…….alright! I confess! I’ve just been too lazy too blog! There, I’ve said it!

It’s just that I was recently introduced to the TV series Once Upon A Time and I love it! I didn’t think I would, at first, I had seen the trailers for it and it didn’t seem all that interesting. That just goes to show you, never judge a film or show by its trailer.

So, I’ve been spending most of my spare time watching the first three seasons, but it hasn’t been a total waste of time because I crochet while I’m watching, so I’m still being productive.

Other than watching Once Upon A Time, I managed to clean out a self for my yarn.

Doesn’t it look pretty?

So when ever I’m done reading a book, I can never decide which book to read next. This year I decided to make TBR jars.

I’ve already added most of the books I’d like to read, and even some that I don’t care to read, because this is the only way I’ll actually read them.

Today was such a lovely, sunny, beautiful day so I took a little stroll! And after all these cloudy days we’ve been having I got some much-needed sun. I took my camera out with me, it’s just a point & shoot camera so the photographs aren’t that great.

I’m not sure if you can see it, but there is a woodpecker in there, just look for the red, that’s its head.

And here is a mockingbird, I almost typed mockingjay (Hunger Games fans will get that).

I was actually about only ten feet away from it. It’s always great to be able get so near wild birds. I saw a lot of other birds, but I didn’t take any photos of them, sometimes I just like to take things in with my eyes, and not through a viewfinder.

This evening I made some fried cream-filled cookies.

These are great! Greasy, but still great!

So that’s what I’ve been doing. What have you been up to? I’d love to know!

Peace and Blessings……

The New in the New Year

First, Happy New Year Everyone!!

Second, I have changed my author name from Abigail to Ruth, it’s just for a bit of change. You see, my family calls me Ruth and my friends call me Abigail. I may eventually change it back to Abigail. But, you all just feel free to call me by either of those names, whichever you prefer.

Ok, so that’s out-of-the-way.

I was supposed to do this post yesterday, good thing I didn’t make a resolution not to procrastinate, otherwise I’d already have broken it. haha…. No, but seriously, I was busy finishing crocheting a blanket that was to be a gift, I’ll post the end results at another time.

Alright, did I keep last years resolutions? Yes, I did. I won’t say what they were, but I they were only two, and I did keep them. I will continue carrying them out this year, as well.

Did I make any resolutions this year? Yes. Two.

1. Set aside at least 15 minutes, each day, to read.

2. I must make at least one scarf or hat, for Operation Gratitude’s Scarves for Troops Program. It’s a great program, one that deserves its very own blog post, which I hope I can do in the very near future. If you’d like to find out more about them, just visit their site.

So those are my two new resolutions, I’m pretty sure I can manage to keep them.

A new year means a new book to read!

This year I thought I’d start my year with a book about Her Majesty The Queen, and I’m loving it! I’ll finish reading Anna Karenina once I’m done with this one.

A huge order of yarn arrived today.

I’m very excited to have new kinds of yarn to work with, and see what new products I can add to the shop!

Well, that’s what’s new for this year, so far.

What new things do you planned to do this year? I’d love to know!

Peace and Blessings……
